Yardley Soap

Don't know why I am thinking of soap today, but...when I think of something refreshing, I think of Yardley soap. It has a nice fragrance and leaves your skin feeling smooth. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

The year is coming to a close...time for new beginnings...

The year is coming to a close. Have you reached your goals? If not, think of the new year and your ability to begin again. A lot of times when we aim high...we usually hit a least a few or more balls in the park.

I accomplished a few minor things in my life this year...new friends, losing 10 pounds, and getting a job in the art field. My goal for next year is to be a mover and a shaker. I still managed to procrastinate too much, but towards the end, I stepped it up a notch and watched things happen. I can only imagine what could have happened if I started earlier.

As far as weight loss...I had my ups and downs, but I will not give up. I will be starting all over again after the holidays.

Jelly Fish

Jelly Fish at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago.

This past weekend, I enjoyed the day snapping pictures at the Aquarium with my family & friend. I was captivated by the Jellies. I left the South and came to the big city for the summer (back to my hometown). I am here to make my dreams come true...I have an appointment at the school of my dreams, next month. This is my year to just---go for it. This is a part of the end of...my procrastination. Still working that out (procrastination that is), had a few bumps a long the way - but I'm not giving up.

Breaking Barriers

For hundreds of years, no-one could beat the four-minute-mile barrier in track-in-field. It was said to be impossible. Until Roger Bannister made sports history...he refused to let that be a barrier in his mind...he did it...he broke the record. After that, hundreds of people were able to do it, too! What stopped other people from breaking this record for hundreds of years??? All of a sudden others were able to do what they couldn't do before. So, the lesson is...don't let your mind be a barrier. Don't let your dreams go by and let people tell you what you can't do.

I read about this in Chapter 4 of Joel Osteen's book, "Your Best Life Now...7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential".

Azaleas

One thing I love about spring is Azaleas. I am also reminded that summer is approaching and I have not completed my weight loss goal. I kind of fell of the weight loss wagon. I have maintained my 10 pounds that I lost, but, that is about it...I'm about to get serious, again. I am getting up and getting something started...are you with me...let's do it.

Japan Earthquake

My heart goes out to the people of Japan. I am still in disbelief of the catastrophic events that have taken place. There are a number of different ways to help - the Red Cross is always one of those organizations to donate money...I was surprised to find that - Facebook's Cityville game is also participating in donations for relief efforts.

Mind exercise

When we think of exercise, we normally think of the body. I have been neglecting my mind, lately. It needs a workout. I was reading Sadami's Graffiti blog today and it made me think about a time in my life when I wrote without grammatical errors. I need to get back to that. I also need to spend time expanding my vocabulary. I am so thankful for blogging diversity. I enjoy all of your blogs...just wanted to say thanks to everyone for being such an inspiration in my life.

Alternative Health - CoQ10

There are so many natural supplements to choice from...have you ever wondered about the benefits of CoQ10? According to Dr. Valerie Saxion: it is good for the heart, angina, increases white blood cell count, helps to eliminate bad bacteria, reduces inflammation, boosts the immune system, helps reduce liver damage (especially good for people taking medicine that damages liver), works to eliminate yeast infection, and other benefits. CoQ10 is naturally occurring in your body, which equals, no side effects. If you are interested or want to know more about CoQ10 - research this topic and of course, always consult a physician before trying anything.

Today was a nice relaxing day. Had a chance to talk to a good friend and eat Turkish food...I'm in heaven (food heaven that is). We chatted about our to-do-list for 2011 and we had a few items on the checklist that were the same...taking music lessons.

How is your checklist going for 2011? I hope today is your day to get something started or keep something going...

Watching my favorite Sunday show

I love watching Aarti Party on a Sunday. Had a late night and pretty much, just getting out of bed. Who would have thought to put pretzel on a fried steak - looks so YUMMY!

Thinking about my workout routine for the day...think I am going to walk today. It's a little nippy out, but who cares. I need some fresh air. Commercial is over, back to my show...

Taking out the Pilates

I'm dusting off my old Pilate's DVD and getting into it. It just might curb my workout boredom...changing things up a bit. I think my husband is going to join me today...Woohoo!

Here is a quote from Joel Osteen's book - Your Best Life Now - "As long as you can't imagine it, as long as you can't see it, then it is not going to happen for you".

Today is a good day to get something started.

Blogging is like being on the radio

I found that blogging is like being on the radio.  You are on the air and you're the only one talking...and you don't really know who's listening, unless they call, of course.  Blogging is the same, you are writing, but you don't really know who's reading, unless they leave a comment.

Keeping it real today and everyday...I am not feeling like working out today, but I am going too.  I am finding that, I don't think I can do an exercise program at home.  I need the extra push/the support.  As always - Thanks for reading.

Dancing weight off

Okay - I finally did it.  I got on a scale.  I haven't lost anything yet, but there is still hope - it is still too early.  One of my Facebook friends, posted on her page that she lost 40 lbs. in 3 months by dancing.  WOW!  When I build up to a thirty minute workout, I might just try that.  Right now, I am just thinking of planning my next getaway.  We are going to try to plan our travels around festivals...like the South Beach Food & Wine Festival in Miami.

Road tripping

I am moving like a turtle today.  Everything is going slow.   Haven't really did anything today, didn't even workout, yet, but I will.  Going on a road trip and going to do a ten minute walk, when I get there.  Need to clear my mind...hope to end my day at the beach, but for right now, I am just going to see where the road takes me.  Thanks for visiting...I hope today is your day to get something started or keep something going...

Envision Yourself

It is day eight of my workout routine - I started working out for 10 minutes today. Don't know if I have actually lost weight, yet.  I don't want to start getting on a scale-just yet. Trying to stay focused on good eating, and exercise.

I was thinking today about vision and purpose.  What are your dreams?  Are you living it?  Do you have goals that you have set for yourself? Are you checking your list of things you want to do in your life?  If your life is not want you expected it to be...envision yourself in living the life that you wanted, and go for it.  Start thinking about ways to make it happen.  Do some research on that topic, write the list, and just do it!  Have no fear and take it one day at a time.

Day Six - Your new life starts today

If you haven't done so already...jump start something new, read something inspiring, start a new hobby, get a new look or think about something good...and wake up with a smile on your face.  A good attitude is very contagious.  These are some things to do - to get your new life started...Also, don't forget about taking care of yourself, by taking vitamins, exercise, and eat a well balanced meal.

Day six of my weight loss challenge is still going strong, and my five minute workout is almost over, so ready to start my ten minute week...

If you get a chance, leave a comment.  Be blessed!

3 Ways to Save on a Winter or Spring Family Getaway

3 Ways to Save on a Winter or Spring Family Getaway

Day Five - Healthy Portions

Wow!  It is already day five and I am still keeping up with my workout routine.  I'm thinking about food today. What am I going to make today for my family?  Whatever I make today - I am going to make sure I have small portions.  Just because your trying to lose weight, doesn't mean you have to start eating food without flavor.

I love baking.  I try to bake about twice a week.  My favorite thing to make for dessert is brownies.  I have one slice, and then I walk away. Speaking of walking, the weather is so beautiful today (65)...I'm going to get out of the house and take a walk through my neighborhood.  Don't forget to take time to smell the roses...or the fresh air - maybe take up bird watching...

Day Four - Mind, Body and Soul

It's New Years Day, finally!  I am so motivated and had my five minutes of exercise for the day, but I don't just want to concentrate only on my physical appearance...I want to make sure that I have not left out my mind and my soul.  I signed up for a couple of magazine subscriptions. I have started a nutritional plan, and I am also making commitment  to listening and reading something inspirational.  I found a book by Joel Osteen - Your Best Life Now (7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential), for one dollar at a bargain book store.  What a great bargain!  I can not put this book down...I would love to encourage you to take care of your whole body, stay focused, and keep up the good work.  Maybe this is your first day - trying to do something to lose weight, don't worry...you can do it - one day at a time.
